Beaches near a desert? Is it a mirage? No, it isn’t a mirage, its reality.
Dibba is a coastal area in the northern region of United Arab Emirates. Dibba is a one off place which is ruled by two Emirates viz. Sharjah and Fujairah. Khorfakkan on the other hand comes under the Emirate of Sharjah. Both of these places are known for their magnificent beaches, hotels and wadis. Through years, these destinations have evolved as a short-term vacation spot for a lot of residents and tourists across the region.

The major hot-spots to visit
Khor Fakkan Beach:
The beach is located at the east end of the country and runs along the coastline of the Gulf of Oman. This place is famous for water sports such as para-sailing, scuba diving and numerous other activities. Apart from this, the beach area has a park which is subject to activities for the kids as well as numerous barbecue spots. It is known to host a lot of people especially during the winter time when the weather is pleasant for outdoor activities. Surrounding the beach are beautiful mountains which people often use for trekking. The perfect time to visit would be during the evenings when people can witness sunset sipping their hot tea. The closest Emirate to this beach would be Fujairah which is a 45 minutes drive.
Wadi Al Wurayah:
Wadi in arabic simply means a valley. But have you ever visited a waterfall or a natural lake in between of nowhere? If not, this is the perfect spot for your getaway. Wadi Al Wurayah is known for its beautiful waterfalls and lakes where people often visit for a mid-day dip. Surrounded by mountains and desert, this place makes a perfect example of a natural beauty. As the weather around the summer season gets a lot humid, a lot of people visit this place. Also known to host different types plant and animal species, this place is one of the top rated destination.
Also called as “Friday Market”, is a well known place for its diverse selection of fruits and vegetables and nursery products such as plants and seeds. Whenever I go to this place, there is no leaving without eating a boiled corn cob which is served hot with spices. It is a half way mark between the Emirate of Sharjah and Fujairah and often people tend to have a stop over for quenching their thirst or to do some quick shopping.
